Crystal Lumpkin

Our Virginia Office Manager, Crystal Lumpkin, joined Simply Grazin’ in 2016 with no experience in beef, pork, or farming. She handles all of VA’s office and animal paperwork: farm certifications, policies, protocols, assets, credit cards, petty cash, purchases, errands, internal and external customer communications, assists with beef and pork purchasing and transportation for VA, maintaining accurate animal records that include incoming and outgoing animals, animal logs, USDA tagging records, health/treatment records, weight records, breeding records, offspring records, keep pasture records to include animal rotation, acreage, soil testing records, seed, fertilizer and lime records, hay cuttings, hay harvested and sampling records for our hay fields.

In her five years, Crystal says she has learned quite a bit about beef, pork, and farming by watching, listening, helping, reading, research, and by just doing. She does not just work in the office; she also works and helps her co-workers on the farm. When needed, Crystal will feed and water our animals. She helps take care of our newborns and she helps acclimate new animals to our farms. Crystal will also assist with veterinary checks, weighing, tagging and vaccinations of our animals. Crystal can corral cattle and swine, but she prefers to just help. She also checks on and repairs fencing/gates. She will set up temporary fencing when needed, pull hay samples, and take soil samples. She has even replaced a boot and ball joint on an RTV.

Crystal has 25 years of office administrative experience with 10 years of management experience. She also has an Associate Degree in Accounting and an Associate Degree in Medical Office Technology. Crystal says her work ethic is driven by passion and being the best she can be. She does not like to give up and she does not like to be told “it can’t be done.” She considers herself to be a perfectionist, which she says is her biggest strength and her biggest weakness.

Crystal was born and raised in North Carolina. She is a southern girl, and her favorite college team is the University of NC Tarheels (Go Heels!). Crystal moved to Virginia in 2015 with her husband, Johnnie and daughter, Abigail, so that her daughter could live in the community in which she attends school. Included in her family are 3 stepdaughters, a step grandson and Eli, our 10-month-old Merle Aussiedoodle who rules the roost. Crystal says she is blessed and thankful for what the Lord has given her. When not working, Crystal enjoys spending time with her family.

“I enjoy any vacation, the waves crashing at the beach, sunsets, searching for seashells and watching scary movies. I collect clowns and music boxes. I love calving season at the farm and the best part of my job is the animals!”
