Simply Grazin’ is a family owned and operated farm that believes in allowing animals to graze peacefully and grow naturally — with minimal interference.
We didn’t mean to become farmers. In the 1990s, long before the local food movement gained steam, we started worrying about the chemicals and pollutants present on the food they were buying at the grocery store. So, we started raising some produce and livestock of our own to prevent our family from ingesting harmful chemicals. We started handing some pork and other meat out to friends and neighbors, and it tasted so good they kept coming back and asking for more.
Eventually, we quit our “day” jobs, sold the house, bought a farm in Hopewell, NJ, and moved our family to live on it full-time. We started on the farm by raising chickens, then we added heritage breeds of pigs and cattle.
Early on, discerning restaurants in Princeton, NJ caught on to what our family was doing with small-batch, pasture-raised meats on our farm, and approached us to buy for their dinner menus.
That was really helpful early on, because those chefs could tell us what was good and what was not quite as good. Their advice and their feedback helped to get us where we are today.
Where we are today, over 20 years later, is pretty awesome! We own several parcels of land across New Jersey, New York and Virginia where we raise cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys.
We are a custom contract grower for Walden Local Meats and Skillman Farm Market and Butcher Shop.
We take pride in our family-run farms, where the animals are raised naturally to taste great.
