Hazy mornings on the farm are soon to give way to frosty mornings. We’ll take the warm temperatures while we still get them. We are now officially in our last week of Summer. September 22nd marks the Autumn Equinox, and the beginning of Fall.
Fall is a time for many different types of farms (apple, pumpkin, corn, etc.) to come alive. On our farms we are preparing for the cooler winter months, when the pastures are no longer green and our cattle require baleage feedings. We are checking our fences, and checking that our farm equipment is ready for winter chores.
But, for now, we are enjoying this period of time for seasonal overlap, where the early mornings and late evenings can be quite cool, but the middle of the day can feel like a hot July day.
