Weighing the Weanlings

Weighing weanling cattle

On March 31, Kriss, Austin, Kelley, Phil Sr., Phil Jr. and Nichole weighed the cattle that had recently been weaned.

We go through the process of weighing all of our cattle frequently. By constantly weighing our animals it allows us to check whether they are healthy or not. The data collected after weighing them can be used to suggest any changes in the diet or recommend more nutrients may be needed in the forages. It also allows us to determine the possible values of the live animal in relation to the market price. Weighing also helps in determining the weaning time of an animal.
