Most consumers do not like to think about how the animals are raised while
they are biting into their steak. We do. All animals raised on our farm are
treated like one of the family. There’s a great deal of respect given to each
and every one. Ultimately, they are going to give their life to feed you and I;
we ensure that their short life cycle is spent grazing in the sunshine, in a
stress-free environment with minimal interference. Our own family transports the
animals to the processor ensuring they are not mishandled or unfairly stressed.
Processing day is put off a day or two allowing them to settle down from their
ride. You should feel good about knowing how well these animals are treated. We
are truly blessed to be responsible for their healthy upbringing.
Our grass fed cattle graze on organically managed pasture without the use of
pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Conventionally raised beef are grain-fed or
grain finished. You can certainly taste the difference in the flavor of the
meat.
It’s a two year process for our calves to mature into the desired weight for
slaughtering. (Most feed lots administer steroids and growth hormones to “beef
them up” in six months).
Buying from your local farm not only helps out the agricultural industry but
allows the consumer to actually see for themselves how we operate. Please
educate yourselves on the raising of the products you consume. Ask questions and
don’t be afraid to ask for proof of organic status.
Simply Grazin’ Organic Farm strives to be fairly priced, enabling families to
provide healthy food for their growing families. High fuel costs, processing
fees and rising organic feed prices forced us to change our pickup and delivery
practices. The reward was we did not have to raise our prices this year.
80% lean consisting of sirloin, chuck or round, in any combination. Only 20%

On low heat at all times. You certainly want to retain the small amount of
fat in the meat. See our recipe for

Some of New Jersey's finest restaurants
purchase our meats and show a true commitment to buying from local farmers.
Mediterra Restaurant and Teresa’s Caffe in Princeton, NJ as well as Nova Terra

owners of those restaurants show a true commitment to buying from local farmers. We urge you to
dine at these fine establishments.
At $6 per lb, it is hard to commit to spending $20 on a chicken to feed
your family. We feel your pain. It’s very frustrating to not be able to offer
our chicken at a lesser price. Currently, the township does not allow us to
process our own chicken which would lower our price per lb. Out of that $6 per
pound, $1 went to purchase the chicks, $1.50/lb goes towards processing the
birds and another $1.50/lb goes towards the organic feed. Hopefully, in the near
future we may be able to win the battle and process here on the farm. We are
trying.
Global Organic Alliance, Inc. Our certificate # is 2009. We receive yearly
inspections which consist of paperwork reflecting feed purchased,
chickspurchased, animals on hand, number of cattle processed, soil logs and
field history sheets. Field trips out to the pasture complete the yearly
inspection. It costs money and it is very time consuming. Our certification is
our only insurance. You, as the consumer have the guarantee that we are what we
say we are and our practices are done by the code. |
